The '66 no doubt. There's something about the style of the tail lights of a '66 that capture my heart and soul! When I first got my driver's license, my dad had a '66 with the 330ci/4bbl engine (don't recall what the hp was but it seemed like a fast car to me!). It was red, with red interior and pretty plain as far as options go - AM radio and heater were about it - no power steering, no power brakes. My dad used to say that if you needed power steering or power brakes, well then you were just too lazy to drive! Anyway, my dad installed chrome reverse wheels with spinners, as well as a rear speaker with a fader dial mounted in the dash where the Cutlass emblem went - and we rode in style! He had Firestone blackwall tires on it and my brother and I used to buy the white paint sticks and paint in the "Firestone" brand name on each tire - we had to do that every couple of weeks, though, because the white would fade to yellow quite fast! Dad traded that car in for a '68 442, which is still alive and resides in my garage. The pictures show me on my 18th birthday waxing that car, and as it is today. It's a nice one, but my heart still resides in that red '66!

My pick is the quickest Oldsmobile production car ever made:
The '66 W-30. With looks to back it up!

I always liked 69s because of their styling and trim which was only available for that one year. I guess that is all personal preference and yes I know they are close to the 68s but are also different in a lot of ways. As for color my first cutlass was a black with red striped 83 Cutlass Supreme and I liked that color scheme. That leads to the car I wanted most and was looking for a few years back which was a 1969 442 convertible, 4 speed manual, black with black top, with red accent striping and red interior. I couldn't find or afford exactly what I wanted so when I saw this red on red 69 convertible auto trans that I really liked I bought it and that is the 69 S convertible I am riding now.

I would have to say the '69 is also my favorite Cutlass as well. I have a '68 but I agree, the lines and style on the 69 are better. From the front end headlights to the rear tail lights, it all looks better.

My vote is for a '66 cutlass convertible. This was my first car and had been in the family since new. I also love the Olds' of the 50's. Low and slow and tons of chrome. If I could I would own at least one for every decade, but I am quite happy with my family owned '66. I may be biased but the looks of a '66 is just right. It can look stately and proper, and it can look mean and fast, just depending on how you choose to look at it.

I've had more than a Few but Never got over the Love of my 2 1970's. I had 2 at different times and never had another Like them. Might also have to do with the time I owned them being 18 and 19 as well! I have a 69 now that I'm converting to a 69-H/O and with the 442 grill swap it already looks like a 1970. Thank God. I hate the 69 Cutlass Grill. They look like rows of Teeth!

I like 1970 Cutlass Supreme Sx

For 1970 I like the Supreme Body style over the Cutlass body style. I think the notch back gives it some class...... The W-31 is the motor to have but alas we could not get it in the Supreme Body...... Then there is the W-25 hood which makes any Oldsmobile look TOUGH...... Again you couldn't get it on the Supreme SX although some were dealer installed......

My road car is a 1970 Supreme SX with the W-25 hood and ram air air cleaner....... Tough to beat..... It does have a 455 the only way I could modify it to be any better would be to drop a W-31 and 4 speed into the car.

Until a couple of years ago I had a W-31 4 speed car to drive when I really wanted to have some fun......SO I had the best of both worlds''''''

I like the 64 thru 66 and the 68 thru 72 - however, my favorite is the 66 - not only because I own one, but it has the best of both generations as far as body lines - I'm going to have another one that is a hardtop someday!!!

I own a 72' Cutlass and I really like the prominent grille on the 72' with the 442 package, BUT based on performance I really liked the 70' W-31s. That would be my preference.

Got a 69 442 post coupe and I think it has amazing,Classic lines.Having said that,I owned a couple 1968 Cutlii back in the early 70's, and as I get older,I'm growing fonder of those separated front headlights and skinny taillights. Guess we'll just have to convince wifey that what she really needs isn't another expensive German horse, but rather a whole bunch of American ones in a '68 442!!

69 thru 71 442s

My favorite cutlass is a "77".
My favorite 442 is a "70". A 1970 442
is not a cutlass. It was a model of it's own.

68 and 69 cutlass

My first olds was a 72 Cutlass, It was an awesome car and I always regreted selling it. The 72 was never my favorite though, I like the 68 cutlass due to the unique one of a kind hood and grill. I was looking for a 68 cutlass when I saw an ad for a 69 that was only 1000 dollars, being that a 68 has been nearly impossable to find (within my budjet anyways, 3 kids, slow economy) I though I might as well settle on a cheap 69, but when I showed up to look at the car it looked like a 68 but the title and vin said 69. At first I though it was a vin swap, stolen, or some mistake, but after closer inspection it noticed that the back was a 69 but the front was a 68. Now when comparing the back of a 68 and 69 I think the 69 is way better looking. I really like the front of the 68 cutlass, but I dont like the little side windows on the door or the little horizontal taillights on the back bumper, I like the vertical tail lights and the post free windows of the 69 cutlass. Mix the two together and you have my 68/69 cutlass. I really like the vinly top and the huge truck of the 68 and 69s. For me I have the perfect car, one of a kind and the best of both worlds.

For me it's the 1968-1977 bodies. I really like the Rallye 350 and the 76-77 Cutlass S, Salon's and Supreme's.

I know its old... 62 is my favorite, have 3 and working on number 4. 66 used to be the only olds I ever wanted, never had one but tried. other than that the b bodies do it for me as far as olds are concerned.

This was a good thread to resurrect, I've had 2 67's. My very first car, and this one. I like the 64-67 "A" body style. They were simple and not much plastic.

My 72 because I did all the work and there has been some great memories made . Aside from that biased opinion. I like the 68's I like all the transition years from gm in the a body platform. But a post coupe 68 cutlass hands down is my favorite.

My favorite cutlass is the 1968 cutlass, any model really. I love the rear tail lights and the split headlight combination. It just seems like there is no other car like it - it has so much character. My father and mother owned one when I was a child. In fact, it was the first car I ever remember our family having. It was hunter green (ish) with a black vinyl top. It was a four door.

I bought mine as a tribute to my father - while working on the performance aspect as a tribute to my mother (who loved to do burnouts). I love this car and I hope to own it forever! Here are a few pictures...

Whew...My firsts olds was a '77 Cutlass Supreme, my second a '70 Cutlass S. I currently own a '72 Cutlass S. Something about the A body style I like. I really enjoy the 72. Although I have never owned a '70 Rallye 350, the sebring yellow and full interior options make me vote for them as the best Cutlass.

Hard just to pick just one! I like 1968 and up,except the salon from 78-79. Some people said there are no ugly ones, but these take the cake IMO.

For me the '69 is head and shoulders above the rest. It just has that perfect look. I think they started looking too bulky in '70 and up. My runner-up choice would be a '64 as I really like the front clip on those.
