Windshield trim
Windshield trim
I have some missing parts on the '69 Cutlass S convertible that I'm rebuilding. It's been a long time since we disassembled it, I need some input. 1st, concerning the lower windshield molding. Is there a seal between it & the windshield or does it take some sealant? When I tighten the screws that hold it, the top of it raises up from the windshield. Also on the interior trim molding at the top of the windshield I know there are 3 screws that hold it to the top of the windshield frame, but on the bottom side there are 3 holes that line up with 3 bigger holes on the frame. I was thinking that there may have been a fastener that sits behind the frame that the lower screws go to? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Mike, if your talking the wide stainless piece at the bottom of the windshield it should lay flat and tight against the glass when the fasteners are tightened. There's no sealant under it. Is this the same one you removed before the restoration? Could it have gotten bent?

if you can see the brackets on the inside of the trim that keeps it mounted properly....all 6 screws should be the same thread size unless the holes have been drilled larger...
got to love the re-pop stuff...nothing like gm...
