Where to buy 68 parts? What is interchangeable?
Where to buy 68 parts? What is interchangeable?
why in the world did oldsmobile make this 68 impossible to get replacement parts for?
it makes me sick that my yearone catalog has a million parts for every car but mine.
what is directly interchangeable between my 68 cutlass s coupe & another car like a chevelle/skylark/gto/ different year cutlass, etc. if any at all?
rear end? suspension? i know the front end is not interchangeable with anything.
are there any good sources for parts for this 68 other than opg, yearone?
thanks.

OK, there are some things interchangeable. Steering, suspension, brakes will interchange with other 1968-72 A-body cars. The major engine, transmission parts will interchange with other years. Many of the body panels from 1969 will also fit on 1968's. Many of the interior parts interchange between 68-69 A-bodies. The rear ends from 1968-72 Cutlass/442 will fit, the Type O was used from 1967-70. If your looking for something specific I'd suggest you create a parts wanted post. John
All kinds of parts interchange between the A-bodies.
The engines are what set them apart from each other more than anything else, their heart and soul.
They have different trims and shapes but there basically all the same cars underneath.
Fusick's is a real good place to get parts.

A lot of the mechanical parts can be found at the local parts store, Napa's a good one for older car parts.
I order most of mine online from Rock Auto, the same parts as the stores and a much better selection. They're way less expensive most of the time too, even with shipping.

Another good place for mechanical parts is Supercars Unlimited. You can view their catalog at www.supercarsunlimited.com. Like Fusick, Supercars deals strictly with Oldsmobile.

Oldsmobile had nothing to do about it. Complain to the repro parts houses. The reality is that the 1970-72 cars are more popular and thus there is a larger market for repro parts. This is a business decision. Also, most of the 1970-72 sheet metal interchanges. Most prior years are one-year-only.
