what do you guys think of this
I feel "filling the openings" on the '68 to '72 cars looks good, but overdoing wheels and tires to the extent of having to raise the car, destroying any handling, looks like crap!
And, yes, this from a guy that had a 'jacked to the sky' '56 Chevy as his 1st car!
Rockers were above the knee - 45 yrs. ago!! Ball-joint risers and air-shocks!!
But that was then -

Sorry, but I'm too old for rubber band tires on oversize rims. It just makes the car look like it's on tiptoes. Besides, what's the sense of using low-profile tires (presumably for improved handling) and then jacking the car up so they fit? That just shows more money than brains in my opinion. Oh, and the fender vents belong on a GNX.
Yeah, I'm an old fart. Sue me.

well I guess after seeing so many with huge 24s- 36 in rims the 20s look pretty nice the car still has the stock height. The tires have a little meat on them to maintain some type of traction depending on the brand. With a BBO proper gearing and suspension upgrades it looks like a nice lil road course car, that can show a 350z what an olds is all about.
I can't find a smiley that shows a face puking on this forum. That would be my reaction. Classics are meant to look like classics, not like a frickin' circus chirade. Those penny farthings are what it reminds me of. Stupid looking and probably not very practical. Probably how the guy driving that car will end up too eventually!!!

I'm with the other old farts, car looks good, wheels overdone.
GN vents are fine.
I could see 17 or 18 in the rear. 16 or 17(?) in front.
Always liked the GN's. The 442's of that era were nice also, just lacked a bit of "Bad Apple" next to the Buicks. IMO.

if the wheels fit the car without having to raise the vehicle its just fine you improve handling and you can fit larger brakes on. You guys are thinking of the donks thats raised up a mile and you need a step ladder to get in. 20s fill the wheel wells good and maintain stock height. 22s and up is all cosmetic. hell even the new camaro ss comes with 20s from the factory
Very surprised everyone is cool with a non-Olds motor under the hood. C'mon, a nice stock 307 would have been better no? Then again, maybe it already had a 3.8 and the 3.8 turbo was an easy swap.
The wheels are too big for it though, sits too high up front. Like someone else said 18's out back and 17's in front would have been a nice look. I do like the lack of moldings and the blacked out look. I love GN's and that was a good choice for a motor too.

It's not rocket science we all know that people dont deal with change very well and most men stay set in thier ways. I figure when my 7mo old son gets my cutlass in 50 years he'll probably want to put 50inch tires on it or do whatever the new fad is and I probably wont like it. I wonder if Chip & Sam Foose have this conversation.
