Where are you located? What condition? Yours doesnt look too bad, any chrome shop can make it look new. Also I think these are repopped now or will be very soon.

I've just started to see 1969 rear re-pops showing up on ebay, have no idea of quality, so I'd imagine fronts are out there or soon to be as well.

Glad to see a youth embracing the classic car hobby. Unfortunately, the really bang you these days for rechroming. You can keep your eyes open for a good used one. As of now neither EBay nor The Parts Place shows a front bumper available.

Original parts group lists a new front bumper for 69 model year. The picture is of a rear, but the description and title are for the front. you may want to give them a call to shake out the details and discrepancy. With their price and shipping it may cost less to have a chrome shop repair yours (if possible and somewhat local). I had a chrome shop do both bumpers on my 66. The front bumper was bent forward on the left side pretty bad and the back had some good dings in it. Both fit wonderfully and look incredible. I think it cost around $700 to $800 dollars total for both bumpers if memory serves me correctly (this included shipping - they picked them up from a local body shop - look into this option as local body shops will likely know the chrome shops and who to and not to use). Yes expensive - but cheaper than new (if I could have actually found new ones that is).

I know this isn't what you're going to want to hear but 69 front bumpers usually rust in the middle. If you have a decent one you'll probably better off rechroming it if you want it to last. If you want to go a little cheaper, buy one of the new repros. I don't think you're going to find a good driver 69 front bumper for about $100 like you can find 68's

Do you remmeber the shop that did it? I was just quoted $800 for the rear by itself.

Word of caution on the reproes - most say they fit decent but the overall quality is not that of a rechromed original. This is not from experience.

Ron,

If you contact Keystone they can arrange a pickup and drop off at a local parts store or body shop. They were about $375 a bumper for my 68 including shipping. I ended up using Sandys Bumper Mart in Syracuse because I could drop them off and pick them up. Plus I had two 68 cut-out bumpers and they acid dipped both at no extra charge to determine which was the best candidate to re-chrome.

If memory serves me correctly, I had Ogden chrome do it - they are in Utah and I am certain you will be able to find someone closer to you to do the job for a fair price (p.s. price is not everything).

I have heard the same thing about the chrome on the reproduction units as droptopron but don't have personal experience with any. My understanding is that they do what I would call a standard quality chrome job. When I have units rechromed I ask the difference in cost between a standard chrome job and a "show quality" chrome job. Typically the show quality jobs cost a little more (mine was 300 each for standard and 350 each for show) and the difference can be significant and some companies carry different warranties for them. My understanding is that the show quality job involves additional dipping and smoothing steps to ensure a very high quality adhesion, finish, and impact resistance (durability). I am by no means a chrome expert and this is just a regurgitation of what I have been told by various body and rechrome shops. Some of the chrome shops I talked to will not even offer a standard chrome job for classic car bumpers because the cost difference versus quality difference is not worth their trouble.

The key is to ask multiple rechromers under consideration ample questions to feel confident in your decision to use them. Finding some local cars to see examples on is also not a bad idea if at all possible.
