Unconvertabing my convertible

So as I ponder the look I am after with this newest Cutlass and I remember back to all the 28 others all 66 and 67 I have built over the years. I believe convertibles have no character. I have been stalled in this project for some time one due to not being able to get my body here from whatever plant they are made in and this nagging top issue.
I think I am going to put the missing top back on this car.. I made a Carlson style removable top for a 66 drop top years ago out of aluminum. This time I think I will try to make a top out of a hardtop that is removable.
I will photo the progress along the way and keep templates as I make them .
Here goes nothing

I don’t want to be a bad person “but” if you don’t like the looks of a convertible, why did you buy it or why don’t you just sell it?

I paid 2100 for the car off Craigslist with delivery from Chicago. Price was right and it was a 67, lots of good options all which made it worth the price.. I thought I wanted a vert but now not liking not having sail panels which make really makes a Cutlass what it is

Sell it and get a hardtop. Problem solved and this way, you don't butcher any cars.

x2!
if you only paid $2100 what kind of shape is it in? If it is in descent shape you should be able to sell it for more than you paid and use that to buy a hdtp. IMHO trying to make a hardtop out of a convertible would be extremely difficult . Making it a removable top would be almost impossible, especially having it not look like a hack job! Why would you want to do this?

Again. Watch this happen. Removable hardtop made from scratch and people bitch? When it is done and killing it don't act like you saw the vision. Artistic comes in many forms. Metal workers welders etc are full of ideas. He isn't taking an early W car and hacking it up to sell at an auction. He is about to give that car Mad Love. Oldsmobile on!!

There is little danger of that.

We would have nothing new in this world, if most of the posters "advice" was followed.
