Transmission wire question
Transmission wire question
According to my parts store I have a Super Turbine 300 2 speed transmission. in my 68 Cutlass. According to an assemblly manual it appears to be a "Jetaway" transmission. I believe the 2 are 1 in the same.
My issue is it looks like the wire that goes down to the transmission has the metal ear in it that should still be on the trsnsmission. It looks like the msanual is caslling that the kickdown actuator? Correct? What is the best way to repair/replace the wire connection in the transmission?
I cannot even get a filter kit through NAPA for this transmission only a complete rebuild kit. Please let me know what you guys know for a fix and any place to get parts. Thanks.

To replace the connector in the transmission you have to drop the pan and gently bend the tabs from the back and push it out. Considering it's age and has been exposed to the hot transmission fluid it will probably be pretty brittle so be careful. Getting a new one might be a good idea and then you can replace it when you do the filter.
"Jetaway" was the brand name Olds used for the ST300 two speed trans. It is NOT a Powerglide, despite what some people may tell you. The plastic trans connector should be the same as the one used on the TH400 trans. Those are available everywhere. Fatsco is a good source for filters, gaskets, and parts. The kickdown switch is on the accelerator pedal, under the dash, just like on all 1968-72 A-body cars.
