whats the deal where some 68 cutlass/442 have a weather strip between the hood and the headlamp eyebrow mouldings, was this early production then discontinued or a specific factory?

 

Give me a pic so I can see what you are talking about. My 68 is about as original as you can get for a real early buikt car.

i dont have a pic of them on a car, but i have a set(cant find any part # but definitly a factory molded part) ill try to post a pic of them,i also know a guy who said they were on his fathers 68 442 and thought they were odd

 

Id be interested in this as well. My September built (09C) Fremont (Z) car has (had) them too. I just assumed someone added them. But this is a lower miles unmolested 3 owner car until the body-on-frame resto in 1990. They made the hood adjustment ulgy and they interfeared with the eye-brow to header alignmet when I restored it so I left them off. Still have them in the "box of orig 442 parts" Never seen another car with them nor reproduced???
My Jan 68 Lansing vert was original un-touched and did not have them.
As dad recalls his 68 W30 did not have them either....the mystery of GM goes on....!

jetaway209 looks like the 68 next to the roto tiller in this thread has them ,maybe its a california built thing? this cars in ca so good chance its a fremont car?

Is it the piece above the headlight housing trim?
The assembly manual revision notes refer to a "filler removed", "chart removed", and "filler added" on the headlight housing page (sec. 11 page 118) and has the letters in circles to refer to but has nothing next to them? Maybe they did delete the part if that's the filler?

And that is about what it looks like when the hood is closed. I messed with mine for ever to attempt to get it not to push down on the trim like that. Finally gave up and left them out. This area is hard enough to get straight without the added width of the rubber.
I realize the hood is open on this car but it looks about the same when hoods closed.
