The Dealer Wholesale Order sheet for the Rallye 350 shows the W-37 rear axle housing being an option - has anyone ever found a documented Rallye 350 with the W-37 option?


The order sheet also notes that the G70-14 tires were optional with either Raised White Letters, or with White Walls - has anyone ever found a documented Rallye 350 with either of those options?

I talked with a guy in Southern California who has one under his Rallye and believes it to be factory.

P.S. W27 is the code for the aluminum pumpkin rear end. But I knew what you meant!

That sure would make that one rare Rallye 350. I've never seen, or heard of one, with a factory W-27 option. That would be as rare as a '72 H/O with the W-46 (W-30 engine) option, or possibly a '73 H/O with the W-46 (upgraded engine) option.


How do you keep up with all of the replies on your postings? You sure must be very busy.

An article in Hemmings posted that the W-27 was actually available late in the production run of Rallye 350's.. If you have an early built Rallye 350, I doubt it's original..

Hemmings can be weak on facts some times . There is miss info in it . I say this form Olds bulletins and other paperwork that is out there.

Hemmings almost always gets their info second hand at best, just repeating what they've been told. The section in that article about the differentials in itself has many errors. Not a good source for hard facts.
We have production figures of 351 W27 units through June, missing only a few weeks of July production with a calculated guess of 4 for July based on the previous months.
That 355 is low production any way you look at it. Of the 351, 31 went into F85s and 77 went into Cutlass S models. Unfortunately, it does not break down if they we W31 or W45 cars. Logically, one would believe that the majority would go into the W31 cars, as the W45 was a relatively mundane performance car.
The W27 was also listed as an option on the Cutlass Supreme, but the records show that none came with it.
