Q:s about the cutlass (maybe buying one...)

1st of all: Hi, im real new here.
Now on to the question.
I have found a cutlass -73 here in sweden for low price (needs repairs)

1;st
Is there something special with the "350 rocket engine" or is it the same GM350 wich is in other GM-cars ? If Y, what is the difference ?

2:nd
Is there something partucular I should check extra careful in this model ?

I would be glad for answers.
Im new here, and im new into GM-cars also (so far just driven swedish cars)

Welcome! I can't help you on the '73 specific question but all Olds engines since the late 40's are called "Rocket" engines. It's a marketing thing. They do not share components with any other GM 350. In "olden times", Olds, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac and Chevy each made their own motors. They were all GM, but they were very different.

norrloader; welcome to this site. As C.J. said, your rocket is so different from the Chevrolet engine in so many ways, nothing interchanges, except maybe the air cleaner housing and carburetor, maybe. Check for rust under the vinyl top if you have one, and also for rust at the bottom of the back window in the hardtops and rust on the rear quarter panels. The electrical wiring in almost all GMs in the early seventies wasn't the best so look at the fuse block and if there is a blown fuse that may indicate a bad circuit or wire shorted to ground someplace. If you have the 350 engine/Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission combo then you have a pretty dependable combination. Again, welcome to this site.
