New guy

Hey everyone. I am new here but not new to Oldsmobile. I am 25 years old from Norfolk, VA. I currently have a 1986 Olds Cutlass that I am ready to start playing with. It's been a great daily driver for the past 5 years and now I'm ready to upgrade the factory 307 to something a little more beefier. I am in the market for either a 455, 425, or 403. If anyone has any of these and are near me, please contact me . Otherwise I look forward to chatting with you all on the site.

Go talk to the guys at Hauser Automotive in Virginia Beach. They campaigned a drag car for Phillips Oldsmobile for many years.

I think your best bet for a big-inch engine is the 403, simply because painted black, it can easily be passed off as a 307 to the unknowing. And I'm afraid Vajenya is going to get stupid on emissions inspections in Tidewater.

Welcome

Yeah, that one of the new rules being considered. Before you can post outside the newbie thread, ya got to take it completely apart and take some pics

Then we'll tell ya how to put it back together.

Heck, he could do that with a 425 or 455 too couldn't he? Remember, to everyone else our Oldsmobile engines all look the same.

Hey, welcome to our site and looking forward to progress pictures once you start the rebuild.

Welcome to the site.

True story. Olds big blocks don't have the large heads and valve covers that the Chebbys have. Just a higher deck height and a litte wider at the top. Gotta love the torque. Isn't the object of this hobby to tear it apart and then put it back together better faster and stronger.

That's why I recommended a 403.
