Need help with 68 Cutlass trim tag decoding
Hello all,
Newbie here. I found a 68 Cutlass S convertible and wanted to verify the codes on the trim tag (top of cowl - driver side). Also, how rare are these cars? It has a 350 Rocket (not sure on the carb). How many did they build?
I've tried looking all over the Internet with not much luck. I need to verify the Trim color and the Paint color. The codes read as follows from top to bottom (I know some of it already).
12C (December of 68, 3rd week)
ST 68-33667 BF (Fremont, Ca) 00117 BODY
TR 944 (???) S8 (????) PAINT
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the site!
The reference I'm looking at says 944 is Willow Gold interior for Strato Bucket seats.
"S" is for Jade Gold paint, then the number 8 is for the convertible top color, but I'm not finding the color in my book.
I don't know the production figures for your car. Hope this helps some, one of the other guys will have to chime in and clarify more. John

Triple gold for a convertible? I didn't realize that you could have a gold convertible top? Is the Jade Gold more of a green color?
Is there a site on the web to view what these colors look like? Or maybe someone has a picture of one with the same color combo?
What's funny is that the car currently is red with a white interior and top. Someone went to a big effort to change it.
Thanks.

Jade Gold is a very dark green with gold metallic mixed in. Willow Gold interior is a light greenish gold metallic finished vinyl, and the Gold top is a greenish medium beige. It was probably special ordered since the default top color was white.
Yup. Instead of finding a car the color they wanted, they buggered what was probably pretty snazzy car. That or some flipper got hold of it and painted it resale red. I'd almost bet it's not even a GM red formula- probably that damned Porsche Guards Red that was done to death in the 80s and everybody was sick of by the mid 90s.

Can you help with my trim tag
I am tagging on to this thread to see what my 1968 Convertible S should be.
Today the exterior is in the metallic dark forest green family
Beige interior, white convertible top.
TR 944 Willow Gold Interior for Strato Bucket seats.
Paint S1 S=Jade Gold Paint, is the 1 a white top?

Yep, 1 is the white convertible top.
68olds, that sounds like a great combo (I'm someone who actually loves the green colors of the late 60's, early 70's.) Not everyone's bag, but would definitely be cool to have and different.
jmt, yours is a nice combo as well. you should post some pics.
