My first Oldsmobile

After reading about Rob's car 'Pristine' I got motivated to share some about my first Oldsmobile. Sad to say I no longer own it as I had to sell it when I transferred to Japan.

After moving to California in the late 70's I needed a car with a little more character than the Ford Maverick we owned. The Maverick had been a good first car for my wife and I and it had served us well in the trip from the Midwest out to California but it just didn't have the character I craved, mainly V8 power. At first I found a 1969 Chevrolet Impala that was pretty nice, blue with blue interior but being a bigger car it just didn't trip my trigger. After looking around for something else I found a 1971 Cutlass S and bought it, fixed it up, had it painted, installed headers, 4 bbl manifold and carburetor, flashy plug wires, etc. I was still young so hey.........

Not as good a story teller as Rob but here are a few pictures I would like to share with everyone.

Hehe, yeah there is a family resemblance. I sure wish I could have kept it.
