Intake / Vacuum Question

Hello! I'm trying to replace my stock manifold / carb with an Edelbrock 2711 intake and 1406 4bbl carb. I've done some reading but can't figure out what this is? Can I get a 'lil help? These small vacuum lines just run from the front of the intake to the back. Can I just block off this spot when I put on the new intake? Also there's 12 volts at the wires - can I use that line for my electric choke? Thanks! and one more - there is a small vacuum line running to small cone shaped think attached to the back of the HEI distributor - what is that??

for my 71 Cutlass Supreme

Thanks!

Aaron

Found it! Read some more threads. Thank you Joe Padavano

It's a DTVS. And the thing in the back is the distributor vacuum advance

The sole purpose of this switch is to run full manifold vacuum to the distributor if the engine gets too HOT.

Now just need to answer my last question - can I use that same electrical line to power my electric choke?

Hey Eric! I see that you have already answered this question in a previous thread.

Yes, the feed wire (green or green and black, if I recall) should be hot when the ignition's on, and should be fine for this.

I have decided to try bypassing the DVCS and connecting the distributor advance to a manifold or carb vacuum port. Thanks to the forum for being a great resource.

I love it when someone answers their own question.

As for the electric choke, read this thread.
