Go to car shows so that you can get a good look at a few '72's. talk with the owners if possible, take a look under the hood and everywhere else to get an idea of what makes the car. If you can find someone to give you a ride...that would be good to get a feel of the ride.

After spending 2 1/2 years in San Diego I can tell you that Olds is not really well represented in Southern California. I went to lots of shows and you might see one or maybe two if you are lucky. Maybe it's because most of the shows I went to were local type shows but that was my impression. I like the 72 body myself.

Don't look for an exact year or model.

Keep your eyes open and look at everything you see, then buy the one that looks best.

You may surprise yourself.

Never owned a '72, but do own a 1969 AND owned a 77 Cutlass Supreme Brougham Coupe that bought new. Like was said above the 77 is a blvd cruiser where the 72 will ride more like my 69 which is more for sport. The 72 will not have near the emission controls on it of course. Should change the 72 to solid lifters if you are going to run the goat pee that we get for fuel these days. Good luck
