Funky Engine Position?

I own a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible and I am trying to find headers for it. I keep running into an issue saying "this will not fit 1970-1972 Cutlass because of the engine position". Does anyone know anything about this? Please help!

Welcome to the site, the header issue is not an issue and has been discussed many times. It seems that this old wives tale has been in some of the manufacturers tech notes for decades and for some reason they won't remove the notes.

It's a database error that keeps spawning itself.

As the programmers say, "Garbage in, garbage out."

Welcome. Many here are sensitive to this because the question gets asked about once a month. Short answer is: There is no difference. Order headers for a Cutlass/442 with the same engine and don't lose sleep over it. Be aware that all headers suck from a fitment standpoint and you can expect problems. You'll likely need to move the brake junction block and some headers won't clear the backdrive or column shift linkage without mods to the linkage. None of that is unique to the Supreme. As noted, do a search, there are millions of posts on this. As an example, the 1970-72 442 convert and Supreme convert are identical from a body, chassis, and engine position standpoint.
