My 71 Supreme will be arriving soon and am already making lists of what I'm wanting to do to it. I have only restored Lansing built cars till now, but the new one is a "G" code Framingham built car with the VIN sequence number in the 130000 range. Besides the possibility it might have a build sheet on top of the tank, are there any other interesting differences unique to Framingham cars?

(Sorry, I'm originally from MA, so I'm sensitive to that).

 

When I was there in 1972, there were lots of squabbles between the UAW and management.


The union would instruct the workers to sabotage cars to stop the line and leverage management to give in to their demands.


One trick was to throw handfuls of bolts (or soda cans, sandwiches, etc.) into areas of the body that would be inaccessible once the car was built.


So if the car has rattles in it.......

I believe the OP was asking about differences in production standards or build practices? Nuthin that I can think of. A Framingham, Arlington, Freemont or Lansing car parked side by side - you'd never spot any differences except by looking at VIN or Cowl tags.

 

Yes, it's a little-known fact that Framingham-built cars have only three wheels.

 

They aren't cars they're caaahhhh's. If they still built there now the GPS's would have to come with a translator...

MY 70 factory 4 spd. 442 with AC has the VIN # stamped behind the AC box on the firewall.

Ahhh yes, the Framingham only Brown Oxidized underside option.

I was referring more to little things like the e-brake cable S hooks that are green plastic coated on the cable end, and the brake line to frame clips that are unique I believe to Lansing cars only.
