FE2 Spring Help

Hi everyone, this is my first post(message)
I have a 1970 Rallye 350. I am currently working on the fuel sending unit, new rear coils, and shocks. That leads me to my questions, what are the correct replacement springs for the FE2 suspension and ride height. I bought some a while back (from one of the so called Olds suppliers) and don't believe they are correct. The originals have 4 coils and is a 1/2" tall than the replacement which has 3 coils. Any response would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the best Olds Forum on the planet! You'll likely get some good answers for these questions on the Cutlass specific forum. We're pic fanatics so feel free to post your progress.

X2 on the pictures

Good luck with your project. What supplier did you get the springs from? Technology today is much better than 40 years ago so the replacement springs may look different but others on here may have dealt with your vendor and give you feedback before you install those springs. Did I mention pictures?

Welcome, I moved your thread to the Cutlass section titled FE2 Spring Help. Post a proper intro in the Newbie section and we do like pictures.

I am not 100% certain, but I think the spring specs depend upon the vehicle's equipment / weight, as in 350 vs 455, AC vs no AC, auto trans vs manual trans, convertible vs hardtop, etc.

When I redid the suspension on my car I used Moog 5536 springs up front as they are FE2 equivalent for my car (SBO, AC, etc). I think the rear FE2 equivalent springs are Moog 5409 but I am not certain about that.

The ride height is listed in the CSM so that should be easy enough.

edit: I searched the site and found this discussion about ride height and a scan of the CSM:

I just changed my rear springs out from the moog 5409 to these and the ride height is perfect now. I found the Moogs to make it too high in the rear. I also put in the boxed rear control arms, swaybar, and Bilstein shocks all the way around as well as the big sway bar up front. It rides perfect now and handles very nicely. A worthwhile upgrade in my opinion. http://umiperformance.com/catalog/in...nnsbu631o2ps55

The springs lower it 2 inches.
Here are the swaybars:

You can box your own rear control arms or buy em already boxed with new bushings. I used rubber bushing cuz that poly stuff is noisy. I also used rubber up fron for the sway bar end links for the same reason. I'll post a pic later. Good luck with your project and enjoy the Olds
