Dash installation

I am about to reinstall my dash on a 72 Cutlass Supreme and need some advice on method of operation. I've changed the color from Saddle to Black and I need to know from someone who has actually done this procedure. Is it best to mount the bezel first onto the dash and make all necessary connections and then come in with the pad and vent system after. Or does it go smoother if you mount the bezel to the dash pad and install it all at once. I see pros and cons of each method and I'm not sure the best course to take. I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Chuck

I've done it as a unit and felt it worked out well. Drop the steering column first, and if you have a friend who can help support the other end as you work the gauge pods in and line up the studs to the holes in the metal frame. My 2 cents, John

Definitely put the two parts of the dash together first, then install as a unit.

Good advice. Everything went fairly smooth. Thanks for the tip on lowering the steering wheel, much easier. The only real difficult screw to get in is the lower left on the Heater/AC control unit. The headlamp plug is a bear to replug in. With its odd shape and little room for your hands, get ready for a few scrapes.
