There is no such thing as a "trim delete" option. 3237 is a Cutlass Holiday Coupe. Every 1964 Cutlass left the factory with the same trim. In fact, except for the base F85 models. every single Olds A-body in 1964 came with the side trim. Either the holes were welded up or the cowl tag has been switched to an F85.

The Cutlass emblems aren't in the correct place either, and the emblem on the passenger side appears to be from a 1970s car, so I expect those green doors and fenders are not from the original Tahitian Yellow car. They may have come from an F85 originally. There also appears to be a skim coat of bondo on them. Check the rear quarters for filled holes. Also, what is the VIN? The second character of the VIN will be a 0 for a base F85, a 1 for an F85 Deluxe, and a 2 for a Cutlass.

this car was more solid of a project than the 66 i have ,I wanted to do a project with my son. The floors and trunk floor are new along with the quarters. Trunk lid and hood are also solid.

I don't think it's "factory" installed options. I think it's options that were installed by or provisions made for by Fisher Body. Seat type, window tinting, trim options, that sort of thing. For example, many cars had various engines as options. None of that is in the ACC section of the cowl tag.

Correct. This car has no Fisher-installed options other than the base equipment for that model.

A real 1964 442 would have the 2L ACC code at a minimum to show the cutout in the floor pan for the four speed shifter. Of course, there were a lot of 1964 Olds A-body cars built with four speed transmissions that were not 442s. These also have the 2L code, so this is not proof that a car is a real 442, but the absence of the 2L code proves that the car is NOT a 442.

Interesting, I never really thought of them as being separate entities. Always assumed more like 2 sides of the same coin. But it makes sense.

The 442 was the police package. In order to be one, as Joe stated, the 2L would have to be present on the cowl tag.

You're welcome and no worries. That's the beauty and purpose of this website. And we are lucky to have him here. I've been learning from Joe Padavano as long as he has been an internet presence. It must be around 25 years since I have been reading and studying the reliable information he provides.

You may appreciate this post, he went a little deeper into this subject about 6 years ago. #8 here https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...85-b09-138296/
