convertible top lift cylinders

One of my top lift cylinders is leaking. It obviously needs to be replaced. Should I replace both of them of just the one? My thought is if i replace one, I should replace both. Anyone ever had this issue?

I would probably do them both since they are the same age. Then again, the other one might work for several more years. It is kind of a crap shoot.

They should almost always be replaced in pairs if you want both sides of your top to go up and down at the same rate of speed. I've seen an old piston rod, slightly stickey, due to a pitted rod not deploy as fast as the new piston. Not a good thing for your top.

That is a very good point texxas. Most of the time we just think about leaks.
