bucket seat bracket questions

Hi, have a 1971 cutlass with bench seat, bought bucket seat brackets. no instructions, of course, do you just set the seats and spot weld the brackets in place?? there are bolt holes for the outer tracks and i assume the conversion brackets are for the inner tracks, is that correct??
thanks in advance,

Mark

I'm sure the conversion brackets are for the inner tracks. I would install the inner brackets to the seats and bolt the outer tracks to the floor, line up the seat then spot weld the inner bracket. Maybe the body service manual or assembly manual would help.

That is how I did mine. Worked out great. Like said, make sure you line up the seats first before welding.

I'm also converting my car to buckets but I don't have a set of original seats......yet. Could someone tell me which of the bench seat holes is used for the bucket seats, the forward or rear bolt on each side?
And what is the distance between the outer bolts (close to the rocker) and the inner bolts (close to the trans hump). With these measurements I can make a template to get my brackets in the proper position in the car.

bucket seat alingment

Hey 72CS:
I'm in the middle of a full resto of a '72 convertible; I can take some measurements for you. I need to do this anyway as I plan to replace the floor pans.

I went through the entire thread on the Chevelle site. Some of the pictures wouldn't come up but I think I got enough to go ahead. I'm going to make a square out of cardboard and put 4 holes where the bolts should go. Then I'll use the rear bench seat mounting holes as the reference point. I should be able to get the brackets in their proper place. Thanks for your help everyone.
