Black or Red Air cleaner- 350

Quick question, I have noticed in pictures of Cutlass's with a 350 engine that same have a black air cleaner and some have a red one. Is the black for the 2 bbl carb and the red for the 4bbl's?

Everything I've seen from 1969 into the late 1970's are black. In 1965-67 I've found 4 bbl air cleaners housings that are red/orange. I've also seen a couple black 2 bbl air cleaners from those vintages. So... that's what I've observed but am not an expert by any means!

I believe that the red/orange air cleaners are strictly on the 442(non W-30). But as always, I could be mistaken.

69 442 and H/O use the orange/red base.
