Anyone have a a/c drier like this
Hey all,
I am looking into getting the a/c going on my car, if the budget will accomadate after the body shop bill.. Attached is a pic of where it is at today - in a near 8 year project.
Also attached is a pic of the a/c drier - when I removed the system years ago, i taped over the openings. However have not been able to find a replacement for it. In my search I have found kits with new decadence and o'rings... Has anyone serviced this style before? Used it in a R134 conversion?

That's the VIR (valve in receiver) style drier that GM used from 1974-76. It has a replaceable dessicant bag. RockAuto sells a kit with the dessicant and seals. Classic Auto Air also rebuilds these VIRs.

If you plan to convert to R-134 and don't care about originality, you can get a VIR replacement kit. Google that and you'll find them on ebay.

Thanks for the heads up, have a shop looking at the a/c system now that the car is nearly done at the body shop. See what the options are. Pros and cons from going with a new Delco remy, to going with a modern compressor... Be nice to use the same brackets for the compressor and the condenser that sits on those rubber bushings in the core support.
