If I'm reading correctly, the standard differential for a '69 4-4-2 with A/C is 3.23:1, which is what my '69 4-4-2 convertible with A/C has. The standard differential for a '69 4-4-2 with the THM 400 transmission is 3.08:1.

Yes, 3.23:1 is standard for a '69 4-4-2 with A/C and the wide ratio 4-spd transmission. It looks like 3.08:1 was an optional differential. As well, anti-spin (G80) was also an option.

Randy is correct. Base equipment ratio with M20 four speed was 3.42 without A/C and 3.23 with A/C. The 3.08 ratio was optionally available on four speed cars. From the SPECS booklet. Footnote b denotes standard with A/C.

Thank for the input on the gear situation. I can live with 3:23 on these Interstates. To get to most car shows and cruises I will need to use the
Interstate system and i like using the tool of calculating the rpms when adding in circumference, speed, gear ratio and coming up with the engine rpms.

I had a 3.08 gear in a 1964 Corvette with the M20 and it was nice on the Interstate. 3;23 won't be that much difference. Once again thanks to all for
the wealth of info.

Here's a link to the tool I use for calculations. Thought maybe someone else could use it someday.

Are you sure the car you are going to see has a 3.23? It could have the optional 3.08. It may be worth at least checking the code on the axle to make sure. The code will vary based on where the car was built, whether or not it has the disc brake option, and whether or not it has the anti-spin axle option. The code will appear as either two letters or a letter and a number and usually found upside down on the front of the passenger side axle housing.

^^^THIS. The fact that 3.23 was the standard gear doesn't mean that an optional one wasn't ordered.
