Exclamation 88 Cutlass Supreme Problems

Hi Im new to the forums and have recently picked up an 88 Cutlass Supreme front wheel drive. I have 2 problems with the car. First the high beams wont turn off...I turned them on and heard a snapping sound now I cant turn them off. I'm guessing I need a new switch but dont know exactly what its called or where to get one...can anybody point me in the right direction?
Also today I went to the store and when I came out the car didnt want to start. It turned over and sounded like it wanted to start but wouldnt. After sitting for about 10 minutes the car started and I drove home. I talked to the person who owned the car before me and they said they had never changed the spark plugs so I'm guessing thats the problem...any other ideas? Also what spark plugs does this motor take? Its the V6. Thanks for any help.

You should probably tune up the car. Go to O'Reillys and buy plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. It would also be a good idea to set the timing. Do you have a timing light? If not, you can rent one at O'Reillys. The auto parts store will know what parts you need.

Snapping sound like maybe an arc of DC current? I bet you have a faulty light switch and it is draining your battery. If this happened during the day time you may not have noticed the headlights were on; even if they weren't/aren't you may still have a soft short which is draining your battery. Worth looking into anyway.
