72 Supreme window alignment

When going more than ~60 MPH, my windows get sucked outward and let quite a lot of air in. I've adjusted the windows numerous times, always trying to get them to seal harder against the rubber, but the problem persists. I noticed that there's a small retainer in the front corner of the door opening, what is it supposed to do? Thanks.

Something isn't right as it shouldn't do that. You've mentioned you adjusted it several times. So you've pulled the door panel and looked inside? Are all the wheels intact? What I'm thinking is the wheels that slide forward and back as the window goes up and down. I've got some doors in the shed, if it would help I could take some pictures of what the insides look like.

TTT to see if anyone else has ideas.

If it is black plastic, it is called a anti-blowout clip. Trim Parts reproduces this black plastic clip if yours is broken or missing.

Door window glass should be inbetween this clip and weatherstipping when fully rolled up.

ROCKET VAPOR, you got me thinking and I started back through my photobucket pictures. The black piece above where I'm pointing to on this picture, in the top corner. Is that the clip your talking about? Seff, do you have something like this on your car? I'll have to look tomorrow to see exactly what it is... and if I'm in left field I'll delete this and replace it with what I find! John

It's a full restoration, so I had the windows out, along with everything else.

I looked up under the anti-blowout clip, and it seems to have screws or rivets. Looking into that might help me. Hm.

You both are correct. The anti-blowout clip is riveted IIRC, but the repro that Trim Parts makes is heat staked on.

I haven't tested much, but I did try being 'firm' with the rivets and thus setting the anti-blowout clips more firmly in place. We'll see if it worked.

It worked. No unintentional airflow at 80 MPH, so I'm satisfied.
