71 Conv Cutlass--how do you get the windshield visor to stay up?

In my cutlass I continually have problems with the windshield visor flopping down (naturally the driver's side; the passenger seems to work well. I have a new bushing and (after cracking the original) a new arm that is tightened as much as I can, but it still seems to flop. I have to hold it with a closepin right now. Anybody figure out any supplemental way to discretely hold this thing up, or a way to get the bushing itself to bite more deeply into the visor stud to hold it tight?

If the split in the jaws are butting together, you may need to file the jaw openings just a little. That should allow a little more bite on the bushing.

There is a plastic bushing on the hinge side deteriorates and a rubber end on the removable side gets hard. Replace both. The items are readily available. So are the whole brackets. Fusick I know has all of it but I can't seem to bring up the bushings and tips there.
