70 Cutlass Supreme Conv trim Q

Oct 2009 JWO, pg 20, has a picture ad for a 70 Cutlass Supreme convertible for sale. It has both the "rub strip" and the lower body (not rocker panel) molding.

I've seen some with and without the lower body molding. Option or removed or added by "some" owners?

It was standard on Supremes in 71, yes? And not available in 72?

The rub strip with the molding caught my eye. Never seen that, but I guess you could order (or add) anything you want, eh?

Just curious. TIA.

All '70 and '71 Supremes had the wider lower stainless molding at the level of the marker lights. '72 Supremes has thinner stainless around the mid section of the car, usually but not always with a black insert. I have also seen numerous other pics of '70 and '71 Supremes with that thinner rub strip up high like the one in JWO. Looks awkward, but I can see how it would be more protective than the lower trim.

Thanks. Just looked weird to me.
