68 350 water pump bolt pattern
Hi all.
I've misplaced my shop manual and am getting ready to install new water pump.
Can someone send me a diagram of which bolt goes where? It is an AC equipped car.
Yes, I should have paid more attention during disassembly!
Thanks,
Mike

If you spend a minute looking at the pump and accessory brackets, it's pretty obvious. The five 1/4-20 self-tapping fasteners go in the five small holes and thread into the front cover. The remaining four bolt go through the front cover and into the block. One of those is longer than the others and it's location is obvious on the pump (lower hole on the passenger side). Of the other three, the one with the stud goes in the upper hole on the driver's side. If you try to fit up the PS pump bracket, that also becomes obvious.

Four self tappers...
Do not over torque those [or any other fastener]
They just need to hold the plate to the water pump against pressurized coolant. Light finger tight. Or, use the exact torque spec and a torque instrument if possible.

What is your question exactly? Are you looking for thread sizes and lengths?
There are four 1/4-20 self-tapping bolts that are all the same and go into the sheet metal front cover. There are four 5/16-18 bolts that pass through the cover and thread into the block. One (lower passenger side location) is longer than the other three. The long one and one short one (top driver's side) have studs on the heads for accessory brackets.
