If you want a suggested price, look up the car in the NADA vintage auto price guide. http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Ca...r-Coupe/Values You be the judge of what you're buying. Does the price fall in the suggested limits?
Any chance you could post some pics of this beauty you're looking to buy? Sounds almost too good to be true. With that in mind, remember the saying that goes with it....

I don't mind opining on values.
First off, though, I would take exception to your description of a 50,000 mile car as "almost new." It may look very good, but mechanically it's nothing like a new car. It would be described as a "well-preserved" or "well-maintained" original.
The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a 1987 Cutlass Salon 2-door coupe in #2 condition (showroom) at about $5700. In #3 condition ("car show" condition), the value listed is about $3700.
Going by these numbers, and adding and subtracting as necessary based on the particulars of the car you're looking at, the value would likely be maybe in the $4000 to $5000 range.

Interesting car. They only made a few thousand of the 87 Salons. When I was in Miami, I bought one from an older gentleman and it had 48,000 miles on it back in 1999 and the condition was very similar. I paid a whopping $1900 for it and sold it for $2200 about 6 months later when I moved. Shoulda kept it. Good luck with it!!

Since you said it was totally stock and all original..... I would have questioned the previous owner on the issue of the exhaust system.... I have NEVER seen a factory stock Cutlass with "dual exhaust" exiting straight out under the rear bumper.... The rear tail pipes should exit out under the quarter panels.....
But, other then that, absolutely, a nice looking vehicle......
