I have a question about these cars...
I'm thinking about purchasing one of these
Cars..I've searched the web and found out
some info on them ....The particular car that
I'm looking at has 27000 miles on it in average shape.
I has T-tops, Vinyl interior and crank windows...
I've been only able to find one with vinyl and
cranks.....is this car very rare? Any Idea on Value?

I've spent all my time playing with 1964-77 Olds and don't know anything about the 1983 Hurst. If you don't get replies from someone on this site who knows about them try oldspower.com That site appears to me more focused on the 1978-87 G-body Oldsmobiles. John

 

Both of those are low miles cars for the year. IMO the H/O's appear to hold their value better than the 442 or Cutlass. However, make sure the H/O has all the goodies, rear spoiler, lightning rod shifter, 8.5 rear end, dual exhaust tips, rally wheels, H/O plaque on the dashboard, hood scoop and corresponding air cleaner.

As to rarity, they didn't make a ton of H/O's in either 83 or 84. I dont know how rare vinyl seats and crank windows were. But on the flip side, I dont know that it will effect future value all that much. For instance, a 1969 GTO loaded with power options will be worth more than one without. Whether the same will be true of an H/O is anyones guess. The many people dont like t-tops as they are prone to leaking and rusting, it is my opinion that option will make the vehicle more valuable to a future collector.

I agree that you might find better info on Oldspower.com or Realoldspower.com as there seems to be more 80's Cutlass owners on those sites.

I just sold my 83 Hurst. The vinyl interior is rarer than the maroon cloth interior. Some also came with the gray cloth interior. I dont know if gray vinyl was an option. All 83's had a 9 in the vin and that will tell you if its a real car or not. The car itself is limited production but a lot have survived and they are not scarce. Price ranges are all over depending on condition. The 83's seem more desireable than the 84 version. Some had T tops, some sun roofs and the rest hardtops. T tops are not rare and chances are they will leak. All had a 373 rear but not all were posi traction. G bodies in this era all were prone to rot in the doors, something to look for. I suggest buying one in the best condition you can afford as the exteroir restoration with paint and decal kits is rather expensive.
