1966 vs. 1967 Interior Options Help

Howdy fellas,

Sorry to be a beating but,,,

My 1966 Holiday Coupe was built the 4th week of September 1966 (I have to check again). I was told many years ago by a NTOC guru in Mansfield that my cars interior is 1967 optioned. It has a fold down arm rested, folding seats bench seat and the vinyl pattern of the seats/door panels is 1967 as well, however, it is still badged and trimmed in Cutlass/Olds Rocket emblem trim, not CS stuff so..

I have been searching for an option list that defines some varying interior options without luck. If anyone has a few tidbits or a link they can share that would be great so I can add your knowledge to my build notes.

Thanks a million,

(edited)

1, if you have a August or Sept build date that would be a early car assembled in 1965.

2, Buckets seats were the standard seating arrangement for a 66 Holiday hdtp , however a bench seat with center arm rest was an option.

3, 67 trim sounds like a later day swap to me.

Negative maybe I typed it wrong....Aug/Sept 1966 it was build....so the guru said, whilst he thought I had swapped it too, later we discovered the build date and that it why he was stupified with the 67 options in the 66 initerior.

I will edit, sorry Henry (it made perfect sense to me lol)

So you're performing forensic interior analysis to create accurate build notes for what? Just curious what you're doing here? A restoration? A driver?

I have a franken-interior. Original Holiday recovered seats, carpet kit and CS repop door panels. The rear deck is a deluxe repop too. People think it's factory clean with the fresh stuff and cost big bucks. Actually this setup was around $1500 total. Thinking these Holiday's aren't worth 442 bucks, I have no regrets going quality repop vs. pro restore.

Just sayin', if it's a driver, no need to go crazy to have a nice interior. If its a restore, guess you need to dig through archived build date data. Yuk.

I am actually thinking about reshooting the car in the factory gold, the black vinyl top and the cream interior...you know the cream seats and door panels, black carpet, dash pad etc...

My car was fitted with the pearl interior, black carpet, same bench as yours, with a gold exterior and some sort of roof treatment when new. Now has black semi custom interior and the blue body and pearl white roof. It is also a Holiday Coupe. It will never be worth anything spectacular, but having a blast with it - priceless.

Eric right (name)?

No kidding...this is why I am not all paranoid about sinking some green.
I have 20 years of paint and body experiance. 32 years in a car club with several engine guru's, trans Jedi's, rearend and suspension messiahs. I got/will have the tools, the place and the guts to go for it..I think.

Daddy told me once never rip a car apart until you have a plan, a budget and a place. Or else it will cost 5x the money to "get back around to it". So in the barn is has sat, complete. BOOM

Anytime you want, tomorrow I'm going over a friends shop to play with his 35 Plymouth. He's got a backyard full of older cars and some more down at his shop.

Okay, your body date is 4th week of July, '66. "Custom Sport" bench seat, black interior. That bench was a no-charge option to the standard bucket seats.

There is nothing to indicate any reason you would have any '67 parts on your car. Pics of the interior would tell us what patterns you have.

Thanks, the paint is actually HEAVY metal flake like 70's glass dune buggies and boats were shot with. It's on fire in sunlight where it attracts attention. Too much really, I get the, "hey, what kinda car is that?" at every gas stop. The flake thing set the build for 70's-cool with a "fast & loud" touch. I went crazy installing a factory AM radio just for looks then added new GM branded lap belts without retractors! You get that 60's car experience while spotting billet eye-candy mixed in. It's fun having no rules with these things.

The cream color you mention is "parchment" in Oldsmobile talk. Have fun with your build!

GasserFlake!! Precisely the description I've been searching for. Must need a gun that can handle "chunky style" flakes. There's at least a pound in there!

Of all the cars I have painted I have never shot that "GasserFlake" or even seen it done. A recent Gas Monkey episode had them paint a gasser Green Flake. It looked hardcore too. Greet tint lexan too, cool.

As far as I interiors go its easy to find wrong interiors in '66 and '67 BOP and even some Chevy cars. My '67 has a Buick interior and yes it was original that way. I know of a Chevelle that has a Pontiac interior and a pair of Buicks that are sister cars in every way except for having two different interior patterns. According to people I know who worked at GM back then there was a fire at the plant that the interiors came from. So they used what ever they could get so long as it met the seating arrangement.

Also,

My 330 has a 4 stamped on the passenger side head. Is that not 1967?

(Seems like I have done this pic before but heck if I can find the thread)
