1966 Cutlass 4 speed question

Does anyone have a book or website that would tell me how many 1966 Cutlass 4 speeds were made? I have almost never seen one, except as a 442. I'm just wondering if I have a rare car.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think I could help you specifically, my reference for production numbers has a chapter at the end of each year which says what percentage of each model was ordered with a particular option. Therefore we might be able to extrapolate a guess as to how rare your car might be but that would be about the extent of it. I don't think there were specific numbers kept on which vin recieved which option, except the build sheet of course. But I mean no records that are in a central database. I read someplace else that Oldsmobile did not have good documentation compared to say, MOPAR where supposedly every option is indicated in every vin and documentation was extensive. Anywho, I will try to remember to bring my reference book to work and update you on this. My home computer got a virus or something and it is real sick right now. Good luck though. I'll try to remember.

Ok, here goes. The 442 was an option package as well that year, not a seperate model in it's own right (you probably already know that), the car had a standard 3 speed on the column, with an automatic as an option ( proabably knew that too), there was a 3 speed manual floor shift option, a Hurst 4 speed manual transmission with floor shift for $184, OR a close-ratio 4 speed manual transmission with floor shift for $184. So you could have either of the last two options, I don't know the codes or how to determine which your car has. There are no percentages for any of these options listed for that year/model, sorry. By the way, the base model was the f-85 and the cutlass was also a sub-group including standard, deluxe, cutlass and 442. That is about all that is listed.

Dan, Thanks for the info!

My car is a 1966 F-85 Cutlass Holiday Coupe. 330ci motor, a M21 (wide ratio) Muncie 4 speed with the Hurst shifter and 10 bolt rear with factory 390 gears. It also has the factory console with the "performance" vacuum gauge.

It is a very fun car.
