Rack & Pinion Conversion

So, this is going to be a crazy question, but has anyone had any experience with a rack & pinion conversion on a 60s big body? Starfire, Ninety-Eight, etc?

I have a 1964 Ninety Eight that I am considering converting to a rack to support a big motor and exhaust. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The 1963-64 cars are different from the 1965-70 cars, and Chevy parts don't work. This will be a completely custom installation and will require careful selection of the rack inner pivot width and placement to avoid bump steer. Personally I think this will be several thousand dollars for very little gain. I'd get the stock box rebuilt with a quick ratio gear set and call it good.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I can't use the stock box due to space and am hoping to eliminate it. I plan to do the work myself, just looking for any guidance as to a particular rack someone has used on their project.
