CPP Disc Conversion and SC&C Stage 2

I'm doing the swap as we speak and I did a test fit of the taller ball joints with the CPP disc brake swap, which has a stock forged spindle on it and it didn't seem like those taller ball joints fit into the stock spindle hole. It;s like they don't go through enough to get to them to fit enough to even get the castle nuts on. Has anyone else run into this problem and what do I need to do?

I have heard of issues with the aftermarket spindles not being machined right and causing issues. I used stock spindles and only had to radius the edge bottom taper in the spindle about 1/16" to get the Howe to seat with a nice contact pattern. Make sure you tap them into the taper with a rubber mallet or the palm of your hand. They should stick in place when you do that. I went a step farther and colored the whole inside with a marker and tightened completely and the pressed back apart to be sure there was good contact pattern in the taper.

I checked the aftermarket against the stock and I swear they look identical. Now, the disc brakes are fully assembled from CPP which is nice, but entirely too heavy to handle very well, so might have to remove the spindle to bolt it on. Do you happen to have a pic of this radius you speak of? What did you do it with? Let me know. Thanks for the help!

Sorry bad memory it was the top. Here you can see where the ball joint step is sitting down on the spindle. That needed to go below the surface just a hair for the taper to seat. I just carefully knocked the edge of the spindle taper opening down with a sanding roll on a die grinder.

ok....I'm gonna try that. I might try my stock spindle and see if it fits first and then if it doesn't with a test fit, I'll call Mark. I'm sure if you had to do it, it probably will need to be done to mine as well to get it to fit correctly.

I just re-read it and see that you said you can't even get a nut on it. You have something else going on. My issue was just the shoulder bottomed on the spindle before the taper fully seated.
