Pics of my 68

Snapped a few new photos of the 68 today. It's lowered now. Opinions?

That's pretty sexy and very clean under the hood. I like the hood stripe and front fenders stripe and the tones used.

Clean and sweet but to really offer a better informed opinion I'd have to take it out for a drive

I put tubular control arms and A arms on it this year as well. I swear the doors shut better. The car is as solid as a rock. Handles good enough where I want to get a quick ratio steering box.

The car looks beautiful! I just sold a 442 that exact color combo last summer (Willow gold/black top/willow gold interior). If it had been a four gear like yours I would still have it.

I also notice that you have the later style plastic cowl screens. Was that a modification that you did?

Yes, I think they're for a Chevelle? I really didn't like the messy screening Olds put on their cars. Looked like Clem and Menard got out there and gussied it up. The plastic has a much cleaner look to it. The car is far from numbers matching stock so I can do whatever I want with it and not damage the value. That was a beautiful post car you had there. I like this green. I have the Ivy Gold interior. It just pops! I put a Tremec 5 speed in the car two years ago. .64 overdrive. I can drive it on the highway now at a reasonable speed. 2200 rpm @ 75mph.

Mine had the willow gold interior as well (bite your tongue for calling it ivy gold, that's Chevy talk).

That's stellar. Mind if I ask if the ramrods came with the red inners stock, or was that a personal choice?

I think the ride height is bang on. I guess it could be a little more nose down, *** up. Some people like that. I like it dead level like yours. Carry on, sir.

This car was put together by either Dave Siltman, who is on here or one of his buds or maybe the two of them. I can't remember. The red inner fenders do not belong. The stripe is absolutely non stock. The red air cleaner? What? Never seen one like that.
To be clear the car is not a RamRod. It is only pretending to be. It has a 455 with a 5 speed Tremec in it. I'm not changing anything though. I'll leave it as is just like I have since 06 when I bought it.
The stance was changed by me by using 2 inch lowering springs in the back instead of 1 inch that are in the front. It had a slight rake to it I didn't like.

This car is absolutely gorgeous. What rear gear are you running with the Tremec? I want to convert my car to a stick, but I'll probably end up running the muncie that I have laying in the back of my brothers garage. Anyone know what the street cost of a used T5 might be?

No idea on the cost of a T5. I'm running a 3.73 and turning around 2200 rpm at 75mph. It's a really great combo. It is a little pricey though.

Jim,I went with the AGR steering box 12:1 if I remember correctly.
It was one of the better upgrades!

Your car looks great, I'm jealous, 68 Has become my favorite year now. Also, is that a street or driveway? You probably have the longest driveway in New Lenox!

That's my driveway. Yeah, it's a long one. The GoPro makes it seem even longer.

Stever, I'm getting one. I have to. This stock box is like driving your father's Oldsmobile! All the handling with the wheel spinning like mad to try and keep up. Question; Do your turn indicators self cancel with the new box? My buddy's didn't. I don't really care, but would still like to know. Btw, those pics and video you sent me on my phone deserve to be up here. Do you want me to try to figure out how to do it? Your car is world class badass!

Jim,my signal cancelator was not effected when I swapped out the steering box.

Well done! Swapping steering boxes shouldn't have any effect on the turn signals' ability to self-cancel.

Cool. I had a friend who changed his and his directional didn't cancel after that. We changed the steering column too though, so that may have been it.

Please call and schedule a visit for a better inspection. I can't find any flaws in just going over the photos.

The stripe is not centered with the bottom of the fender?

The stripe just plain doesn't come with the S model. Only the 442s. And they had their emblems moved so the stripe wouldn't run into the fenderwell. It was on there when I bought it. The paint is really nice and I'm not messing with it. It generates a love/hate it look.
