Led Zeppelin RULES !
I still have all my LPs. Except for 4, it was trashed at a party. And I still watch the DVD of The Song Remains The Same. Anyone else go every Friday night to the midnight movies? Or remember Don Kirshner's Rock Concert?

Hey Blackpage, I always figured you to be a Zappy Guy?
Where did these words come from.......
Her and her girlfriend used to go out and booze it up and tear up the upholstery; rip the seats completely out, and so I got a fifty-six Olds. About the time I got it running decently, she got in it and wrecked the trans . . . tore it completely up, so I had to get another Oldsmobile (either that or go to Tijuana or go to BROWN MOSES way down in Egypt-Land). It's so hard on a child when his car is fucked up. Buy me a Volvo, father.
I agree that Zepplin rules the airwaves, but if you want to hear solos that will send chills up your spine like a c headed 455 does, then Zappa is your only answer (although David Gilmour is pretty good too)

Zappa is one of my fave guitarists ever. Horribly and sinfully underrated. Saw him in Hartford, CT in 1981 and it was amazing. Steve Vai was in the band too. They shredded.

Is your handle "Blackpage" a Zappa reference or some sort of dark Jimmy Page reference?
Did my lyric quote ring a bell (I know, it was pretty obscure, even to FZ fans)

Both. "Black Page" is a Zappa instrumental that was usually performed during Terry Bozzio's drum solo. It also is a combination of Ritchie Blackmore and Jimmy Page. See my avatar.

I did not get the Blackmore/Page reference and you did not get the "Thing Fish/Crab grass baby" reference. Listen to Thing Fish sometime, Frank saw the future.
I am from Sioux City, I never met Tommy but I know Johnny Bolin (a little 6 degrees of separation BS!)

Don't put up a fuss, just get on the Bus!
How are you ?
The golden god rocking the Dr Olds shirt, pretty cool. Have to believe Zep's tunes ran through the tinny AM radio in my car many times back in the day.
He's been spending much of the last few years in Austin living a pretty quiet life with Patty Griffin. There's a neat photo of them handing out candy to trick-or-treaters floating around the interweb. Very bizarre to see him in a Norman Rockwell setting given his past, must of shocked the parents even if the kids had no clue who the old long haired dude was.

Well, you can cool it,
You can heat it,
'Cause, baby, I don't need it,
Take your TV tube and eat it
And all that phony stuff on sports
And all the unconfirmed reports
You know I watched that rotten box
Until my head begin to hurt
From checkin' out the way
The newsman say they get the dirt
Before the guys on channel so-and-so
And further they assert
That any show they'll interrupt
To bring you news if it comes up
They say that if the place blows up
They'll be the first to tell,
Because the boys they got downtown
Are workin' hard and doin' swell,
And if anybody gets the news
Before it hits the street,
They say that no one blabs it faster
Their coverage can't be beat
And if another woman driver
Gets machine-gunned from her seat
They'll send some joker with a brownie
And you'll see it all complete.

Saw the original Skynyrd 3 times, Stevie Ray Vaughn twice, Jeff Beck, Aerosmith like 12 times, Bad Co, AC\DC w Bon Scott, Van Halen before and after Van Hagar, Stones 3 times, ZZ Top many times, and more that would fill a page here. Most tickets were 4.50, 5.50. and 6.50, we would go just for something to do and hang out, kind of didn't matter which band was playing. Wish I would have saved all the ticket stubs...

Other greats I've seen that are no longer with us include Zappa, Grateful Dead, Queen, Foghat, Thin Lizzy, Sabbath with Dio, Boston, Ozzy with Randy Rhoads, Gary Moore, Harry Chapin, Ramones, Outlaws & Molly Hatchet together on the same bill !! and on and on and on...... Man do I feel old.
Yeah, saw a number of the black & blue tours, (Sabbath & Blue Oyster Cult), Zappa, Dead a few times, Queen, Floyd, Foghat a bunch of times, Outlaws, Hatchet, Thorogood, Yes, ELP, Bowie, Neil Young, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, Santana, Clapton, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Steve Miller, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Eagles, Robin Trower, countless others.
Many headline bands would have 2 or 3 opening acts, and those were usually like Foghat, Aerosmith, UFO, BTO, Cars, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Golden Earring, etc.
