i could be wrong about the c clips first of all but push in the axlea first and remove the c clips then slide them out the tubes. 2. unbolt the carrier from the housing. posi carrier and remove and count the shims and replace in order per side when done and do not disturb the crush sleeve either for the pinion it is very important to lash and pattern. I am not positive about the c clips i have not done a rear end exactly like that before do some homework beforehand.

Yeah those posi units can be tricky sometimes. Do you mean you have taken the whole rear end out, or removed the differential carrier assembly from the housing and are trying to disassemble it further? What year is it? If we are to assume you are asking how to begin tear down, I can tell you if it's a factory unit the first thing you do after removing the cover is to turn the carrier to a point where you can access the retaining bolt for the shaft that goes through the spider gears. Remove the bolt from the carrier (hopefully it isn't broken) and the shaft should come out easily (hopefully it isn't to worn and stuck in there). Once the shaft is out you can usually push the axle shafts in toward the differential. Some posi units make this step hard to accomplish but the bottom line is the axle must move inward to remove the retainer. Each axle has a "c"clip retainer which slides out once the axles are pushed inward. Remove the axle shafts. At this point you can remove the carrier by unbolting the bearing caps on each side. Keep track of exactly where everything came from. Once the carrier is out you should be able to see what damage has been done. Like jfb said you should do some research first. Youtube has a few teardown videos that should help. If you decide to rebuild it and you haven't done one before I would suggest just buying another unit or letting a specialist do it for you. Hope this helps.

I took the differential out and need to tear it down.Looks like all I need is spider gears and on bearing.I would like to do away with the posi so it willn't hook up as well.As it has some power and big tiresand 3.72 gears and my son is 17.Junk yard wants $300 for a rear end and they will not sell just the gears.I'm going to check a few more yards Monday.
It's a 93 full size Blazer
