My son's trans is like slipping between shifts its worse out of overdrive than in.once its in gear it's fine.I'm sure it's something simple I hope. It's a 93 full size Blazer.

Check the fluid level first.. if the level is good, drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. look for chunks while you have the pan down. If theres excessive pieces/ filings, it'll need to come out.
It's a 700 r don't know about the 4.Whats the tv cable. It just started doing this.It dosen't do it once it shifted you can stomp on it all you want and it willn't slip. The engine is real strong lots of power.

I am no expert on transmissions but know enough to get in trouble. the 4 just means it has 4 speeds. the tv cable looks like the kickdown cable on a th350 but it controls pressures. it hooks up to the carb and generally should be pulled all the way out at WOT. if it is not hooked up or is out of wack it will not have the proper pressures to shift correctly. hopefully some one with better knowledge of these trans will chime in.
I don't think it has a tv cable. We just changed the trans and I'm pretty sure I don't re member disconnecting and reconnecting one,but I'll check to be sure.Is there any electronic eqwivalent to one?

If it is a 700r4 transmission, it DOES have a tv cable and if you don't have it hooked up and adjusted properly, chances are you will ruin the transmission...... Google is your friend, lot's of info available, trans identification by oil pan shape, TV cable adjustments, companies that sell the cable etc.
just my 2 cents worth.......

That is a two year transmission, 93-94 are indentical. I picked a 93 4L60E for 94 Olds 350 powered Z71. $500 for a near fresh rebuilt trans was a steal. The shifts are controlled electronically, no TV cable. Make sure the main connector is in right. Not good, might be pulling time.
How many miles on the trans? Has it had regular fluid and filter service every 25-30K? If not it’s most likely time for a rebuild. Non High Perf 700s are noted to smoke the 3-4 clutch pack and the lock up frictions the converter (OD chatter). You need to have the pressures checked at the service port on the driver’s side. The pressures are the best way to check trans health. If it does indeed need a rebuild make sure who ever performs it will put all the applicable upgrades into it. Step up to the higher quality frictions and band. Also put the improved servo piston & spring assembly in as well as a shift improver kit (shift kit). There should be a couple of spring and valve upgrades in the valve body. A high quality kit will contain some of this but not all. A competent tranny shop will have the rest. If you don’t have a cooler have it properly installed (you use the radiator as well as the cooler in series).
Also consider a crate TCI trans from Jegs with all the goodies already installed and ready to go with a warrantee. Get the TCI fluid too.

I just dropped the pan fluid looked good it was a quart low. There was a ball bearing in the pan nothing else, very little crud or whatever just the ball bearing.Could this be from a check valve?I took it for a drive still doing the same thing.
I just installed this trans a few months ago the other one had a broken case.I had a reparable shop change everthing over to another case he said every thing was good inside except a shaft that he replaced.
I'm pretty sure it's a 4L60E.

If you’ve found a check ball you definitely have a problem. Not sure how a captive check ball could escape from its home. A valve roll pin stop may have come lose and allowed a valve to shift beyond its captive stop allowing the check ball to be spit out but I'd think you’d see the roll pin, spring and the valve too? This would indicate an unchecked worm passage circuit. I've never seen or heard of this but I haven’t seen as many transmissions as a rebuild shop. Google it. Get it diagnosed asap. You run the risk of burning it up if not already toast. A pressure check will zero in on the problem. You might get lucky and the valve body may be the only thing needing service? Either way don’t drive it until the probs fixed. Let us know what was found.
