Sold my 350 full price no drama.
Later that day sold my 455 full price, took some time(dropped pan) no drama.

Last night sold my 2X4 Offy full price no drama.

How odd is that. I must have gotten all 3 normal CL users.

I had something on there some guy was overjoyed to have found.

"Will call you tomorrow morning - & head up your way around noon - 1PM ... thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for calling me back I reaaaaaaaaaallllllllly appreciate it".

That was LATE LAST WEEK .....

I'm still waiting for that phone call.

Perhaps I was mistaken & he simply meant tomorrow from that day - but exactly 1 month later.

That buffoon put my already limited finances into a tail spin for this week ... that I still haven't gotten out of.

And ya' never seem to get stood up by those that just "casually" want to take a look at something ... it's always the ones that go out of their way to thank you and/or panic that "tomorrow" is too late, afraid that what you are selling will be gone by then.

I had another knucklehead one time call me about a tool bench I had.

It was @ 8:30 at night.

Him -

Oh man I've been looking for one of these for quite some time". I almost bought another ... but man the pics of what you put up is much nicer than any of the other stuff out there. I'm gonna be up your way tomorrow @ 10:30-11AM with a trailer heading back down my way ... I could grab it then - consider it SOLD. Silence & pause on his end ... Is that's gonna be ok ... you're not gonna sell it by then are you ?!?!?!?!?. Aww man please don't sell it ... no BS man I will be there tomorrow - it's exactly what I need ... & I will pay your asking price no questions asked ... please don't sell it !!!!!!!!.

Me -

Relax man ... it's going on almost 9PM.

The bench ain't going anywhere tonight & I'm turning my phone off when I hang up with you. If you say you will be here late morning ... no problem I won't sell it to someone else & it's yours. But ... if you're feeding me a line of dung & I don't hear from you tomorrow as your promised ... don't bother calling back 2 days from now - 2 weeks from now etc etc.

Him -

Dude I'll be there GUARANTEED !!!!! ... I don't like it when people waste my time either !!!!!. Thanks so much man .... I'll call you when I'm heading back down ... my trailer should be empty & I'll swing by & grab it. Dude thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Me -

Fine ... talk to you tomorrow.

The guy with the tool bench your were coming to pick up ?.

Him -

Oh yea (said in a bothered/annoyed tone) ... what can I do for you ?.

Me ... at this point wishing it was physically possible to crawl into a cell phone & crawl out out the other end with whom your speaking with & choke the ever living S#$% out of them -

Ummm ... you were supposed to be here between 10:30 & 11 ... any idea when you might get here ?.

Him (nonchalantly) -

Not done yet man ... I'll call you later. (click).

And would you imagine my shock .....

When I never heard from him again.

I'm really upset ... I haven't had a good night's rest worrying about whether he's ok or not ... and/or thinking something really terrible must have happened to him.
(sarcasm again)

 

You have just cursed yourself. You will never have another smooth transaction again. The c/l gods are setting you uo for a HUGE fall.

i have not had a bad deal from CL yet but i don't use it very often. i do get the normal calls that say they will come a certain day or time and not show up. i just tell them to call me when they are on the way. i don't expect them till they are in the driveway. there are a ton of scam calls and emails but i just ignore them. when they talk about my "item" i have for sale, i know right away they are a scammer.

 

might be this morning? guy is due here now.

 

There's no way around it, you are going to get dumb people calling or emailing you about your "item" as Jensen puts it.

But those that ARE serious are very courteous and kind...and when they show up to look at my "item" I ALWAYS have good interactions with them. I think it's my charming personality but my wife says it's the HK USP Compact .45 I'm wearing...

 

4 in a row! full price, no drama! Plus the shop is cleaner.

 

I've had pretty good luck with CL. I don't use it often though. I sold one car trouble free and some steel Toyota truck wheels most recently. The sale of the wheels was a little iffy. The guy kept trying to get my price down, then sent someone else over to look at them, then asked me to hold them for 5 days til he could get the money. Normally I wouldn't do this but he seemed trust worthy, in the end he followed through.

 

lol, when i get a call or email asking about my item, i ask them what my item is that i am selling. i have never had a single one know what my item is. if they want to scam me they will at last have to know what i am selling and not call it an item.
