Serious question fer Blue

Seriously,

If you were going to do it again. Would you yank the engine or do it like you just did?

I'm really curious Blue, which would you consider easier?

Talking If You Got it, Flaunt It

Redgoat is using those red hoses to flog myself.

Could pull off the hood and drive around like we used to. Why have a nice golden engine or buy chrome valve covers and an air cleaner if you can't show them off?

I think it would be a lot better to pull the engine at the trans to do the engine painting, but that's a whole 'nother deal. Depends how involved you want to get and the mightaswells can overtake you at any point doing this, especially with the engine out.
My Vista was just supposed to be a beater.
I could of pulled off the exhaust manifolds and heat tube shroud but only have so much time and and after 40 years I'm not sure I would want to mess with those bolts unless it were my car or I was an bonded and insured for it.
Plus you get what you pay for.
The Prettiest One with snapped off flange and possible bolts in the head would not be good sitting in my garage down. The wrath of the gods would be upon me when I call Sandy and tell her to tow the car out of here to be fixed after I get too frustrated to go any further.

Good points Blue,

Yeah, You were kinda under the gun time wise and wrath wise.

Boy we could have had one heck of a thread. "The Prettiest one is down with broken bolts and Sandy's gonna miss show season thread" or " Will Blue live another day thread"

Thanks again for the compliments but a lot of the credit should go to Redgoat too.

A hair dryer would take those stripes off in no time.

I thought the hood pad was heavy and the hood would be easier to lift up without it but it's still heavy, maybe it's those stripes that weigh so much?
The trunk lid seems a little heavy too, trunk floor is all touched up BTW Sandra, it was exactly the same as the Eastwood stuff I have a can of, another why did I buy it in the first place??? Between that and the engine paint and the clamps I must be psychic or something.
It could also be weak hood springs making it hard to lift at first, stays up fine so no big deal, a lot more pressing issues to worry about, like the hole in the plastic transmission inspection cover thingie. I had to take it off to paint and the inner edge by the engine looks like a small critter was gnawing on it too.
It's just a little hole on the bottom, it would let the missed shifts out if you had a stick.

Well great job, Blue! Looks like I will be planning a road trip to your area next year.
I can drop my car off for a motor paint job, get a rental, and pick her up on the way home - sound good?

No??

Oh, alright..........

How about just emailing me the big sized pictures so I can just do it myself then?

It looks like you really made a good model to detail with.
Sandy should be proud (as long as the transmission stays attached...)

Again, wonderful job!

You can get one but not really, nobody can see it, just funnin'. If you do feel like getting one I know you could install it. I'm too fat to crawl under there easily. I greased my belly with you're engine leavin's to squeeze underneath to get to it, too clean now. Too lazy to get the jack out to make room because I'm so fat, waaay too lazy to put the car on the lift.
There is one screw missing and I didn't do it.

Sandy will be at my house sometime after six to drop off the wire clips and retainers..and the hood pad.
I'm such a pushover.
Actually I want to see how it goes in and stuff for practice to do mine.

Larry, Sandy's better half, was telling me about his 340 challenger and my wife told me he told her about a few more of his former...

Many Odd Parts Arranged Randomly
Miscellaneous Oddball Parts Assembled Ridiculously
Most Often Passed At Races
Mostly Old Parts And Rust
Move Over People Are Racing
Move Over Plymouth Approaching Rapidly
My Old Pig Ain't Running
My Only Problems Are Repairs

I won't say what else he told her, my lips are sealed.

He did a most wonderful job!! In person, it is just beautiful - and I am so grateful that he took the time to help me like he did. Not many people out there today that take the time to help someone, especially with something like this!!

Thanks Erik, when are you going to do yours? Be careful it doesn't have any hidden rust holes.

My second Oldsmobile engine, looks better than mine.
Maybe I should of done Sandy's first?

Those Fusick dated spark plug wire are really nice BTW. I've never put on wires that fit so well, no extra wire hanging around. I like the slightly chebby orange spark plug boots too.

I wondered how Sandy was going to get the hood pad to my house, I knew the box was as big as the pad.
I forgot about Larry's truck.
Does he let you drive that chebby Sandy??

I tried to fit that pad into the Intrigue... laid the back seats down.... but the pad box was too wide to fit through the slot from the trunk to the back seat area, LOL!! They just don't make em like they used to!! Soooo.... I just loaded everything in the back of Larry's truck!

You are such a shi*!!! His truck is a GMC, not a Chebby! LOL!!! I have driven it, but I don't like to cause it's as big as half a school bus, to me! I drove it a lot during the winter of 2008, in 4 wheel drive! My little Intrigue was sliding everywhere..... scary. His truck has those automatically adjusting seats, so I push the # 2 button, and the seat moves up and adjusts to my "I'm shorter than a bumper" position!!

So.... tell me.... I was reading an older thread on "cleaning up the brakes" and it was said that "liquid Graphite" has been used on boosters to make them look nice...
What is liquid Graphite and where would I get it, and would it work on my booster???
Cleaning Brake Booster

Thank ya kindly!

Liquid graphite?
It's a drum brake booster so it should be a clear zinc I think?
I'm a poet and I don't know it.
My goat had that before I converted it to discs, seen a lot like that, seems the larger disc booster was the gold chromate?
I put on the hood pad and did the wire retainers and straps.
Mine also has the wire along with the modulator and vac line so it uses the larger strap, the black one worked fine on yours.

The hood pad was pretty easy, just glued it in the middle on the sides, it hung slightly down and it bugged me, but you really don't need too since it's so stiff, I'm just a noodge.

The greenish hood pad matches her skin.

I had a can of Eastwood clear zinc, another mystery purchase, looked at the booster next to my pretty engine and it stuck out like a sore thumb and I thought "Mightaswell".
Scuffed with scotchbrite and surrounded it and everything else with masking film, masked the booster and lines with aluminum foil and tape up next to the booster and the check valve
Aluminum foil makes great masking for lines, carbs, brackets, etcetera.
Everybody should have a masking machine that does any painting or bodywork too, they make life so much easier. 3M masking film is also really good stuff to have around too.

I would be proud to show it now Sandra, the student is now the master.
Good luck in the show world Weedhopper... unless I'm competing against you.

The greenish hood pad matches her skin.
