Project Opinion

I found this Olds on Craigs. Looks like some potential but looks like a money pit too.

Is this guy being reasonable?

In my opinion, no. He wants $4000 for a non-running '57 Olds 88 2-door sedan where it may or may not be possible to get the engine running. There are other serious issues, too, regarding rust.

The Old Cars Price Guide puts the average value of a 1957 Olds 88 2-door sedan in non-running but restorable condition at just under $2500. It's arguable that this car may not be worth restoring and thus is really just a parts car. In that case, it's average value drops to just under $1000. This car is probably worth in the $1500 to $2000 range. Just my opinion.

Thanks. With that in mind, sounds like he wants to recover some money spent on an engine and tranny.

Onward!
