Yes thank you. Will put a special shout out for my cousin who just retired from the Navy after 30 years made E-9.

Being kind as I can, the purpose of Memorial Day is to honor & recognize those who have paid the ultimate price of death. This is not to take away from those service personnel who survived &/or are alive serving or having served in the military; yet, it is a day of somber remembrance for those who died.

Amidst the car shows, barbeques... Memorial Day 5-26-25

Amidst the car shows, barbeques, etc... this weekend, please take a moment to honor and mourn the fallen who had given the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country.

I tried to merge our Memorial Day threads. Of course, it merged them backwards.

Have a great Memorial Day. Thank you to all my Battle Buddies, Shipmates, Wingmen & Marines that served. 👍

Very good, and valid point. This morning at church the speaker asked all the verterans to stand in honor of Memorial Day, in good conscience I could not in spite of my service in the Navy. Many people misunderstand this.

Thank you Norm and Erick for setting this straight. It is a common and well intended mistake for people to attempt to honor Veterans on this date. Us Veterans have our day of honor on November 11th. One of the things I find most obnoxious is for people to say "Happy Memorial Day" and the damn veterans day sales. This should not be a happy day but a solemn day and it is obvious that people who say this have no idea what this day is all about. And the damn stores that are having their Memorial Day sales should be closed but the almighty dollar is more important. My God Bless all the families of those who are honored on this day and may they all rest in peace. This is a soapbox I will always get on and now I will step down.

Glenn - Agree 200%. What don’t they understand about the term memoriam (obituary)?

It's also kinda funny that Armed Forces Day is not really recognized.
