Hoping this is ok since its a dodge valve cover.. What my original vision was a tribute to a 1957 J2 Olds meets steampunk garage lamp.. I couldn’t find a early to mid 50’s valve cover with the patina I wanted and I ran across this early 50’s dodge with a perfect patina..I started with an old rusty box of pipes and pipe joints I bought at a sale cheap, Then began my first foray into garage art..lots of work cleaning and painting pipes, putting it together 10 different ways until it spoke to me..had to weld and fabricate a few brackets etc
Really cool, love this. My FIL used to build a lot of steam-punk lamps out of pipes like this, I'm looking at one on my desk right now that uses a commemorative 7-Up bottle from the 1978 Indy 500 as the primary vertical member and a spark-plug sticking out one side (he is a retired pipe-fitter by trade, go figure).
no but that would be very cool, not sure how to do that..any ideas?
Man, I wish I knew! I would have to do some research. Probably by starting here on CO asking for ideas! I can string 10 and 12 gauge wire in a house and put in panels, conduit, switches, lamps, fans, etc, but I'd be lying if I told you I could do make those items light up. I imagine some sort of voltage step-down and some automotive lights?...
Very ingenius item and good craftsmanship. My rigid mind is all in a twisty tie trying to figure out the functionality of it even though it knows it's just art.

Mainly a mancave thing with functioning lamp bulbs. I’m sure it would be nice light for ambience. Not sure it’s a good light to do a lot of meticulous things with. it’s just a way for me to get my pent-up creativity out of my mind and onto something..sort of like big metal signs, they serve no purpose but are cool garage art
