Never loaded plants in one of these.

A 53 Buick woody wagon came into my work and bought some plants. I have loaded plants into a lot of different vehicles but not one of these. However my grandfather might have some 70 years ago.

I always enjoy old cars more when they are still used like they are supposed to be used

👍😎 That could be a 1953 Estate Wagon magazine ad. I'm digging it!

1953 is a pretty significant car in Buickland too. The first Nailhead V8, and the last American wood-bodied station wagon.

Back in the days of "artwork" car advertising wagons of all brands were pictured at plant nurseries, antique shops and some even in hunting and fishing sportsman settings. Studebaker Wagonaires were sometimes pictured hauling trees or refrigerators in their open-air cargo areas.

A longroof is always eminently cool.

Larry, I took the liberty of posting the pics on AACA forums and the car is a big hit over there.

Do you by chance know of Merton Fowlkes in the Richmond/Fredericksburg area? He has a green 53 Estate Wagon. Mert must be pushing 80 now. Hard to believe I met him and the Buick nearly 40 years ago at AACA Richmond Region's annual show. Very kind and personable man who I've tried to emulate in my old car travels.
