Lieutenant Uhura

Nichelle Nichols died last night aged 89. Truly a groundbreaking actress who later worked with NASA to attract women and minorities to the program.

Lt Uhura, you have gone beyond the stars.

I've always been a sci-fi guy. The original Star Trek crew was awesome, both the show and the movies. Hard to believe most of them are gone.

Sorry to hear of her passing. My Dad was 89 last year when he passed on. That generation is slowly leaving us.

I was hoping she'd live to be the last one.

Even though George Takei and Walter Koenig are younger, Shatner will probably be doing AARP commercials till he's embalmed.

Long time Star Trek fanatic.

I have met her a couple times, nothing more than a “Hi, nice to see you!” kinda thing. I have seen her many times at conventions. It’s questionable between her and George Takie (Mr Sulu) who seemed to enjoy the fans more. It’s obvious both of them really enjoy and appreciate the people who made them famous.

I have said this many times, assuming I live to be as old as William Shatner, I hope to have fraction of the energy he has. The man has more energy than most men half his age.

With the exception of Deforest Kelly (Dr McCoy) I have personally met every one of the original series cast. The autographs and photos are some of my most prized possessions.

Definitely a class act.
