More giants gone
More giants gone
With all the current mess on the world stage, I never saw any mention of these deaths on my news feeds. And both these guys contributed more than the self-impressed nincompoops who currently hog the spotlight.
Humorist PJ O'Rourke, 75. I first ran across him when he worked for National Lampoon in late 70s and loved his irreverence and equal opportunity skewering. He wasn't afraid to whomp anyone. He carried that into his later work at Rolling Stone.
Col. Gail Halvorsen, USAF Ret., 101. "Uncle Wiggly Wings" who flew in the Berlin Airlift, delivering food and supplies to decimated West Berlin after WW2. Also known as the "Candy Bomber" for dropping, along with dozens of other AAC/USAF pilots, some 23 million TONS of candy to Berlin kids during the late-40s Soviet blockade.
There are still people who make a difference but aren't in it for themselves. RIP O'Rourke and Halvorsen.

Real heroes neither ask for, nor want fanfare. They walk quietly among us every day. (Maybe less today no thanks to social media) Rest In Peace and kudos on two humans who followed the “Golden Rule”.😇. May we all strive to do the same
greetings
I apologize. I realize that my humor may not be appropriate to a legit question.
The golden rule is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So, treat others like you would like to be treated,
My version is above, which means take advantage before someone else does.
My father's version is: he who has the gold, makes the rules.

actually i put your above like:
do good but expect nothing in return.
anyways, nothing wrong with taking advantage or making the rules, if you’re intentions are righteous, right? You can’t provide for others/humanity if you cant provide for yourself first.
Greetings
