Spring Carlisle 2022

I’m booking a room for the spring event, this will be the first time I’ve attended . I’ve heard a lot of good things about it .I actually talked the misses into going should be a good time. Any pointers to help me figure it all out would be appreciated .

bring good walking shoes/boots,

I haven’t been in many many years it was a must go to, absolutely great, I was planning on going this year but again life gets in the way.

Bring something you can carry your buts and pieces in, it’s a huge venue, enjoy yourself

Its a great time if you like looking for cool car stuff, just note it isn't a car show just a major swap meet for parts and cool cars for sale. Wonder if the price of gas will hurt things as far as visitors and sellers... As said comfortable shoes and prepare for weather changes. Last year's Spring swap had a great turnout of vendors and I believe a brief snow event also.

Depending on what you are looking for, some sort of wagon is good. You can leave it in your truck, then get it when you find that pair of heads or intake. They can get heavy after a half a mile or so.

Spring Carlisle game plan

Carlisle is 94 acres overall --- you need a game plan, rather than just wondering around aimlessly and missing 2/3rds of the show....

Grab the FREE Carlisle Book at the gate.... The first thing to do is to make a list of the sites that you will want to make sure you get to see and stop by....

If for example you just want Oldsmobile parts --- go to the Vendor Index portion of the book (near the center) and you can jot down those vendors you will want to see.... Walk 94 acres --- and not 300 acres doubling back, missing this and that, etc., etc....

Familiarize yourself with the layout of the land --- there is a map in the center of the FREE Carlisle book --- essentially, there are three (3) Fields --- the Main Field (Row A at the food court to Row P at the back fence by gate one (1) --- a spot will be listed as D 39 - 40 for example)..., the Infield (Row
I A at the Stage / Grandstand / back side of the Food Court out to the start of " the Hill " --- which is Row I O .....a spot will be listed as I D 78 - 80, for example) and the North Field (the Hill and those spots out to the Turnpike -- spots are designated as N A through N Z --- a spot will be designated as
N F 34 - 36 for example...)

WALK both sides of the aisle !!!!! Or you Missed half of the show --- or you have to do it twice --- and hence, turn 94 acres into 188 acres !!!!

If you don't need cheapie Chineseum tools, you can buzz by the 435 different cheapie Chineseum tool vendors...... If you don't need wax, you can buzz by the 122 different wax vendors....

The SWAP Meet is Huge --- and GREAT !!! The Car Corral is separate,, but you will see cars for sale throughout the swap meet area, also....

Bring your own cold waters in a cooler in a wagon or a cart....Don't waste time eating overpriced captive audience food.... Get to the spots you must or want to see,, before you aimlessly wander,, if you have extra time.....

Hope this helps you formulate a game plan.....
And see you at I I 118 - 119, middle of the Infield, Row I , spots 118 - 119 , hence I I 118-119,
Because I certainly have parts for you, no matter what you are looking for....

Enjoy, and stay dry ------ Yours, Craig ( Aye Aye 118 - 119 )......

There is also a Women's Oasis area -- for the misses --- if you want to separate for awhile, because it won't necessarily be for her , and you can cover more ground that way...

Hit up the Charlotte spring auto fair if you think Carlisle is good. You'd be amazed.

Looks like the weather will be good for Carlisle this week. Seems almost a repeat of last Spring with possible snow in the area last night!

I am here at "Spring " Carlisle --- still a bit nippy, but Wednesday - through - Sunday SHOULD be --'
the start of SPRING !!!
I drove through 6 1/2 hours of torrential rain from Longgg Island, New York to Carlisle...
Had to stop at the Hershey rest stop, to rest the eyeballs, etc,, etc, and dang,
If snowflakes weren't landing on my windshield!!! Real feel-- 1:00 A.M. --- 25 °...
(global warming, my tushy...). & it did snow, yesterday morning here at Carlisle, my friend who was setting up has pictures!!!

Forecast for this morning, 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. is possible showers.... I will wait it out before I start setting up.....

The Rest of the week --- 98 % beautiful.... If you were on the fence about coming, this is a VERY GOOD year to " Come On Down, (hopefully), the Price is Right " !!!

How was the turnout on Wednesday? I'm headed up tomorrow, weather looks good.

I noticed when booking a hotel room for tonight that prices were higher and there weren't many options, I'm hoping this means it's gonna be a good turnout this weekend.

Was there today, weathermen wrong as usual. Started spitting around noon, gradually increased so much that we needed to build our sandwiches inside my truck and eat inside as well. We waited till the rain stopped, started to walk and sprinkles happened again off and on pretty much all afternoon. Venders started to cover their stuff with tarps and end their vending early by packing up. Picked up a few Olds items today so it was a nice day.

The weathermen really got it wrong. For my first time there I ended up walking 8.0 miles per my  watch. Oldsmanic covered it. We got there at 8:30 so we had 3.5 hours with nice weather and some sun then the rain came.
It was a blast rain or shine.

Actually, this tablet I have had warned of 12:00 Noon - to - 4:00 P.M. wetness !!! And the percentage kept climbing from hourly s of 24%/ 33 % / 29 % to 45 % / 59 % / 43 % and by 11:00 A.M. they had jumped into the 70 s and 80 s %.....

First drisel drops were at 11:34 A.M., it got harder between 12:15 and 12:45 , and people took cover. There was no walking up and down the aisles for over an hour, the grandstands were PACKED, with people sitting under cover, and I am sure on the other side, the food courts were jam packed - since it was approaching lunch time.... (I can't see the other side / food court...)

I stayed open the entire time (I had a clear plastic / see through cover protecting the merchandise),
But by 2:00 --- 50 % of the vendors were covered up, and never re-opened / uncovered....
My friends, that were walking the fields, indicated to me, that definitely more than 50 % of all vendors had closed up / day over....

I finally had an order picked up at 5:00 P.M., and I had already tarped up 20 minutes prior, just awaiting his arrival, before I said "day over"... I felt a serious need to get a piping hot bowl of chicken noodle soup 🍜 !!!

It was not a fun day --- but the forecast for Friday and Saturday is Drop Dead Gorgeous !!!, so if you were on the fence about coming, NOW IS THE TIME to get here to Spring Carlisle.... Plenty of deals still to be had, plenty of cars for sale to change hands, and two more enjoyable days awaiting to happen.... Be part of the fun .......
