Anyone heard anything on how/ If Ozzie weathered the storm in Louisiana He hasn't answered my PM but there again he may not have electricity. I hope that is his only inconvenience....Tedd

Sorry for the late reply. We've been traveling. I've also been concerned about Ozzie. Thanks for checking in on him, Tedd.

Hi guys. I appreciate all the concern. Ida was a rough one. I was much more fortunate than some to my south and west. Some lost everything. My buildings and roofs stayed intact. I had no flooding. For me, Ida was a wind event rather than a water event. Metal roofs are to be preferred to asphalt shingles in a strong wind. I am surrounded by roofs covered with blue tarps, awaiting roofers. Some of my trees lost large limbs, but did not uproot. All my vehicles had inside storage and survived in good form. The electrical power was out for 11 days. On my portion of the street, 8 power poles were knocked down. The way the poles fell I was a prisoner until we were able to move them. Internet was out for 24 days. After the storm, natural gas was the only utility that worked; no power, no Internet, no telephone, no running water, no sewer. My biggest shortfall was not buying a generator before the storm.
Again, thanks for the concern.

Great to hear all that. I don't know you but it is always nice to hear good outcomes.

One of my best friends lives south of Houston. He scrambles from Hurricanes over and over. Man I feel for all of you dealing. I love Colorado shhh. He tells me I would rather run from a hurricane than shovel snow.

Really good to hear that you are good.

That's a rough go ! but I guess you were fortunate it could have been worse. I have a cousin that lived in a rural area just outside of Lake Charles La. she finally had enough of hurricanes and headed west.
Glad to hear you and your property are O.K.
